Brecht Machine (2002)

Brecht Machine was an attempt to use patched together dictation/ translation software with text-to-speech software during a live 2 way web conference - performance hookup.
The remote hookup featured two performers, one in New York and one in Split, Croatia. In Split, the performer spoke in French and in New York the Performer spoke in English. The programming interface translated each performer's language into the other. At each location the translation was be automatically spoken by a synthetic voice.
Since the dictation and translation systems are imperfect, there wasa bit of poetic mayhem and unexpected translation goofs!!
