  musashino art university tokyo (musabi)

  • Description:
Experimental workshop on streaming practices between students from Musashino Art University in Tokyo (teacher: Christophe Charles) and a group of students and Dropbox participants in Aix-en-Provence School of Arts (teachers: Peter Sinclair, Jérôme Joy).
The workshop experiments an interplay situation:
one with the use of a streamed picture as a score, and another one as a catch-ball play between the different participant with the use of simple rules, as for example the use of a visual mark which would permit to send (in)intelligence signs with a webcam.
The frame of the Inter-play is set up with audio remote controls as interactions betweens the two workplaces, in France and in Japan, according to common rules:
    - crossed spaces: recorded phonographies in Aix, broadcasted in Tokyo, and vice versa.
    - improvised spaces: Tokyo on the left channel, Aix on the right one (= stereo).
    - conversation spaces: with sounds of voices, with japanese and french languages (L / R )
    - looped spaces: remixes of sounds and sequences from Aix to Tokyo, and vice versa; the sent sounds by Aix are interpreted by the japanese players in Tokyo, and are sent again to Aix, etc.

Other Interplay streaming sessions will be planned during the all year.
